UPDATE: At 7:30 p.m. Hillbilly Standard Time, the House voted to impeach Trump on two articles, abuse of power and obstruction of justice, and fairly handily at that, sending it on the Senate for trial. Trump's rally tonight in Michigan is going to be off the goddamn chain, son.

Well, it's going down. The United States House Of Representatives are holding the vote to decided whether or not President of the United States of America Donald Trump should be charged for two charges of impeachment for trying to entice a foreign company to dig up dirt on a political rival and for obstruction of Congress. As of right now, it's looking like the vote is going against Trump and since everyone has to give a speech, the vote takes all goddamn day.

And what speeches they are. For every Democrat saying their voting to serve the Constitution or that it's their job or even so they can look their kids in the face, some Republican is giving a speech that can only be described as "snooker loopy". One guy compared it to Pearl Harbor. Another said Pontius Pilate gave the Late JC a better deal than Democrats are giving Trump. A third asked for a "moment of silence" for all the 63 million Trump votes who are being betrayed.

There is no end of GOP representatives are embarrassing themselves by misstating the Constitution, the House rules they themselves voted for to snag the black guy, or reality itself. We've seen grown adults who have driver's license and get paid to represent everyone have been rattling off all sorts of gross, apocalyptic nuttiness in defense of a lazy, stupid rich butthole, like it's the final battle between good and evil..

Remember yesterday when the guy with access to world-destroying weaponry wrote an unhinged six-page letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi trying to neg her into giving up on impeaching him? Well, the Conservative Beast has decided to cut all the shit and ride or die with Trump. All morning conservative squawkboxes on Fox and in The Washington Examiner spent what little cache the had left with claims that weird manifesto was a stroke of political genius, a modern Gettysburg Address. No, really, they said just that.

It makes one tired. Because of this, the News is dominated by everyone and their co-worker giving one more opinion on a bunch of politicians giving speeches on how they're either not mad, just disappointed with Trump or think it's time to start deifying him like he's a Roman emperor. The man himself, of course, claimed to not going to be paying attention because he's working but has spent the entire day on the toilet raging at Twitter.

Nobody believed he would spend the day screaming at the television, come on, now. His congregation in the Church of the Petulant Alpha Male will claim they know he's spent the time working for the common man, like Trump himself is, but no one really needs to take them seriously. Especially not after today. After today, nothing Republican politicians or conservative media say should ever be taken seriously again. If you're willing to give them the benefit of the doubt after this, I don't know what to tell you but you have no one to blame but yourself.

Depending on how things go, we could see the trial in the Senate come first of the year. Although he's claimed he's not taking it seriously, Mitch McConnell is nevertheless trying to push through as many rubber-stamp judges he can while the opportunity is here. We keep hearing tremulous things coming out of the Upper House of Congress, and it's entirely possibly those slick bastards will cut Trump loose to get while the gettin' is good.

Beyond the wingnut press, there's also been no end of useless gibberish by the clowns employed by decayed and self-desecrating former news giants like The New York Times or CNN cautioning Democrats for forgetting their place or noting that the Republican Party is solidly behind the Republican President when they've never given the inkling they'd even give swapping horses the merest thought.

Here's the problem with the Media outside of patently and unquestionably ideological news sources like Fox or National Review. It's made up by human beings he can be self-centered, greedy, lazy or, worst of all, needing 20 grand for their daughter's braces and rocking the boat don't get the fiddle player paid. We have 24-hour access to news, which is nice to have, but doesn't do much good when the content providers just want to get home, take off their pants, and watch The Masked Singer while eating ice cream right out of the box.

And I don't blame 'em, really. It's a tough world where we've fooled ourselves into believing we must work ourselves to death just to eat, so you really can't get mad at someone just trying to take care of theirs. Making a decent living in journalism is a tough nut to crack at best, so once you start making really money, well... let's just say you get more inclined to put your head down and work.

Ah, well. Supper's done. I might come back to this or I might not. Maybe wait until we get a final vote. Maybe I'll just go back to Pathfinder: Kingmaker and deal with reality in the morning.
