Man, yesterday's Gibberish got 15 hits. I know that doesn't sound like a lot because it really, really ain't - and I'm not even sure how much traffic Blogger sees these days, comparatively - but it's the most I've gotten in one day on one post since I started writing again. Is it because I had "Christmas" labeled? I guess so. And, of course, the News at the WordPress sight scored a goose egg.

Thing that gets me is people are still shocked at how low they'll go. I know some folks are financially invested in pretending conservatives in general and the Republican party in particular aren't giant goddamn hypocrites who'll drop every proclaimed principle at the drop of a hat for the least little bit of edge. But let's be grown ups here.

American Media is Bad and Here's Why - SOME MORE NEWS
Among other points concerning the problems in the mainstream media, he makes a really good point about the death of local journalism. One company owns every newspaper in Northeast Mississippi. I’m not sure about radio - though I do know there’s more stations that are pre-recorded & not local - but a couple three companies own all the television stations.
Just something to think about.

Louisiana congressman’s pharmacies sold 1.5 million opioids to towns with population of 6,000 people
A Louisiana Republican owns a company that sells over one million opioid doses to two towns of less than 1,000 total in his district. Because of course he did.

No excuses
This entry is just so I have something for November. Obviously, I haven't written anything since the end of October, and I'd at least like to get one thing a month in, at the very least. And this is the very, very least.

I always feel like, somebody's watching me.
Some years ago when I still lived in Athens, an issue came up in front of the City Commission. To wit, there was a push by certain parties to ban smoking in restaurants and bars. There was a good bit of push against it, naturally, from club owners worried about profits to smokers pissed off about losing critical smoking space. Something like 300 people - and I am probably misremembering that number - turned up at the vote to voice their disapproval. It passed regardless.

Sometimes it's worth the effort.
Writing something because I should be writing something. Feel free to get on with your lives. I certainly should.

"Don't take your guns to town, son, leave your guns at home, Bill."
Political nonsense, so run away if that's not your bag. Also, I am not entertaining debate on this subject. I just don't want to, I don't feel I owe an explanation why, and that's that. Deal with it.

Blame The Vain
Once again, nothing too interesting to say. I should feel ashamed at putting this drivel out into the ether, but honestly, I don't give a shit. No one has to read it.

I would look up a synonym for "apathy", but why bother?
More serious navel-gazing nonsense. Warned.
When I try to study on the whole question of what's "wrong" with me, the problem is it isn't just one single, significant source. That would be easier to tackle than a lot of little stumbles and sharp objects, which is what I'm dealing with now. For instance. I'm still getting over the realization I made a few years back that no matter how cunningly I craft my arguments, how airtight my logic, and how well-researched my facts, there are just some folks who are never going to listen.
